Advanced Design Features
PEI Plastic Body
The HI1286 features a polyetherimide (PEI) resin body that offers exceptional durability for field and laboratory use. Unlike fragile glass-bodied electrodes, the PEI construction withstands accidental bumping and dropping. The protective shielding around the spherical glass tip minimizes breakage while maintaining measurement accuracy. PEI is chemically resistant to many aggressive chemicals, making this electrode suitable for a wide range of applications.
PTFE Junction
The porous polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) junction is hydrophobic and chemically resistant, making it ideal for industrial applications and samples containing oils or organic solvents. The PTFE material resists clogging better than ceramic junctions, ensuring longer electrode life and more consistent measurements.
Double Junction Reference
The double junction design features an internal compartment surrounding the Ag/AgCl reference wire. Silver ions remain in the internal electrolyte compartment, while the outer electrolyte is silver-free. This prevents silver contamination in your samples and eliminates silver precipitate formation on the junction, which is especially important when measuring samples containing proteins, sulfides, or other compounds that react with silver.
Universal BNC Connector
The HI1286 uses a standard BNC connector, making it compatible with virtually any pH meter featuring a female BNC probe input. This universal compatibility makes the HI1286 an excellent replacement electrode for meters from multiple manufacturers, unlike proprietary connectors (DIN, screw type, T-type, 3.5mm) that limit compatibility.
