Advanced Technology in a Pocket Design
Large Multi-Level LCD Display
The 29mm × 20mm LCD is designed for easy reading in any lighting condition, displaying:
pH reading: 0.1 resolution from 0.0 to 14.0 pH
Temperature: Simultaneous display in °C or °F
Stability indicator: Clock icon disappears when reading is stable
Calibration tags: Shows which buffers were used for calibration
Battery level: Percent indication at startup, low battery warning
Unique Cloth Junction Electrode
The HI98107 features a unique reference cell design with a cloth junction that provides a larger surface area than standard ceramic junctions. This innovative design offers:
Faster response times for quicker measurements
More stable readings in varying sample conditions
Better electrical contact with samples
Extractable junction for extended electrode life
Integrated Temperature Sensor
An exposed temperature sensor allows for rapid automatic temperature compensated pH measurements. The sensor quickly equilibrates with sample temperature, ensuring accurate pH readings regardless of temperature variations from 0 to 50°C. Temperature can be displayed in either °C or °F to match your preference.
Automatic Two-Point Calibration
Calibration is performed by simply pressing the dedicated calibration button. The meter can be calibrated to one or two points using pre-programmed standard buffers (pH 4.01, 7.01, 10.01). When the standard value is recognized and stability is reached, the meter automatically accepts and stores the calibration value—no manual entry required.
User-Friendly Design Features
Slim, Ergonomic Design
With rounded edges and a case that is only 17mm (0.7") thick, the HI98107 is ultra-slim and fits comfortably in your hand or pocket. At just 75g (2.6 oz), it's lightweight enough to carry anywhere.
Two-Button Operation
Simple operation with just two buttons—one for ON/OFF, the other for calibration. No complicated menus or settings to navigate during normal use.
Stability Indicator
A clock icon stability indicator appears on the display and disappears when the reading is stable, eliminating guesswork and ensuring you record accurate measurements.
Flexible Auto Shut-Off
User-selectable automatic shut-off conserves battery life. Choose from 8 minutes, 60 minutes, or disabled to match your testing workflow. Settings are accessed via a button in the battery compartment.
Battery Status Monitoring
At startup, the meter displays the remaining battery life as a percentage. A low battery indicator appears when less than 10% battery life remains, giving you advance warning to replace the battery.

Applications in Detail
Drinking Water Testing
Monitor the pH of tap water, well water, filtered water, and bottled water. Ideal pH for drinking water is typically 6.5-8.5. The HI98107 helps ensure your water is within safe, comfortable ranges.
Aquarium & Fish Keeping
Maintaining proper pH is critical for fish health. Different species require different pH ranges—freshwater tropical fish typically prefer 6.5-7.5, while African cichlids thrive at 7.8-8.5. The pHep® helps you maintain stable, species-appropriate pH levels.
Pool & Spa Maintenance
Quick poolside pH testing helps maintain optimal water balance (7.2-7.8 pH). Proper pH ensures sanitizer effectiveness, swimmer comfort, and equipment protection. The waterproof design makes the HI98107 perfect for wet poolside environments.
Hydroponics & Agriculture
Most plants prefer slightly acidic nutrient solutions (5.5-6.5 pH). The HI98107 helps you monitor and adjust pH for optimal nutrient uptake and plant growth.
Maintenance & Care
Storage: Store in the provided protective sleeve when not in use
Cleaning: Clean electrode regularly with the provided cleaning solution
Rinsing: Rinse with distilled water between samples to prevent cross-contamination
Calibration: Calibrate regularly using fresh buffer solutions for optimal accuracy
Junction renewal: The extractable cloth junction can be pulled out slightly to expose fresh material
Battery: Replace CR2032 battery when low battery indicator appears
