Product Description
Milwaukee Wine pH Starter Kit – 5 Essential Solutions for Wine Testing & Electrode Care
Calibrate accurately and protect your electrode investment with the Milwaukee Wine pH Starter Kit (PH-COMBO) — a comprehensive 5-bottle solution set engineered specifically for wine pH testing and electrode maintenance. Includes NIST-traceable pH 4.01 and pH 7.01 buffer solutions, electrode storage solution, electrode cleaning solution, and 3.5M KCl electrolyte — all in generous 230mL light-blocking bottles.
Designed for the unique chemistry of wine samples — tannins, organic acids, and alcohol — this kit provides everything needed for accurate two-point calibration, tannin deposit removal, proper electrode hydration, and refillable electrode maintenance. Compatible with the Milwaukee MW102 Wine pH/Temp Meter, MI456 Total Acidity Titrator, and any refillable pH electrode used in winemaking.
What's Included
MA9004 — pH 4.01 Calibration Buffer Solution (230mL) | Acidic calibration point critical for wine pH range (3.0–4.0) | ±0.01 pH @ 25°C | NIST-traceable
MA9007 — pH 7.01 Calibration Buffer Solution (230mL) | Neutral calibration point | ±0.01 pH @ 25°C | NIST-traceable
MA9015 — Electrode Storage Solution (230mL) | Keeps pH electrodes hydrated and conditioned between wine testing sessions
MA9016 — Electrode Cleaning Solution (230mL) | Removes wine tannins, organic acids, and protein deposits from pH probes
MA9011 — 3.5M KCl Electrolyte Solution (230mL) | Refills refillable pH/ORP electrodes to restore reference junction performance

How to Use
Two-Point Calibration (Recommended): Pour a small amount of MA9007 (pH 7.01) into a clean container, calibrate your meter, rinse probe with distilled water, then repeat with MA9004 (pH 4.01). Wine pH typically ranges 3.0–4.0, making the pH 4.01 point the critical calibration anchor. Discard used solution — never return to the bottle.
Cleaning: After wine testing, soak the electrode in MA9016 cleaning solution for 15–20 minutes to dissolve tannins, organic acids, and protein deposits. Rinse thoroughly with distilled water before calibrating or measuring.
Storage: Store the pH electrode submerged in MA9015 storage solution when not in use. Never store in distilled, DI, RO water, or wine — this leaches ions from the glass membrane and permanently reduces electrode sensitivity.
Electrolyte Refilling: For refillable pH electrodes, use MA9011 3.5M KCl to replenish the reference electrolyte. Check the electrolyte level regularly and refill as needed to maintain optimal reference junction performance.
Wine pH Testing Best Practices
Wine pH typically ranges 3.0–4.0; calibrate at pH 4.01 and 7.01 for best accuracy in this range
Calibrate before each testing session and after cleaning the probe
Clean the electrode after each wine sample to prevent tannin and tartrate buildup
Allow solutions to reach room temperature (25°C / 77°F) before use for best accuracy
Pour solutions into a separate container — never dip used probes directly into the bottle
Store bottles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight; do not use past expiration date
Applications
Winemaking pH monitoring (must analysis, fermentation tracking, wine aging)
Commercial winery laboratory QC and compliance testing
Home winemaking and craft wine production
Vineyard and cellar pH management
Cider and mead pH testing
Food & beverage production pH monitoring
Any application using refillable pH electrodes
