He has taught math in Texas for 35 years. He has coached 10 math teams to state championships in middle school and has held math seminars all over Texas. He has coached 9 individual math state champions. He was selected as an Outstanding Teacher in 1991 by the Grand Prairie Education Association. In 1995, he was honored by the Texas House of Representatives. From 1994 to 1996 he served as Co-Director of the Texas Math and Science Coaches Association. In 1996, he was selected as Secondary Teacher of the Year by the Grand Prairie Chamber of Commerce. In 2002 and 2004 he was selected to Who's Who Among America's Teachers. In 2001, 2002, and 2003 he was nominated for the Outstanding Teacher award at Abilene Cooper High School in Abilene, Texas. In 2007, he was awarded the Professional Service Award from Highland Park ISD. In 2010, he was a finalist for the Garland Educator of the Year Award. In 2010, he was honored as an Inspirational Teacher by the National Leadership Youth Forum. In 1998 and 2010, he spoke at the Conference of Advancement of Mathematics Teaching in San Antonio, Texas. Since 2007 he has taught at Garland High School in Garland, Texas.
