He marries and his wife almost dies with the birth of their first child when he is away. He seeks retribution against a callous Red Cross official which results in persecution from senior officers. He then saves lives in a shootout with an antiwar terrorist group and is relieved of duty for a very minor infraction. Nick must somehow avoid ending his military service in disgrace.
