Why Test Nitrite Levels?Nitrite testing is critical for aquarium health and water safety. In aquariums, nitrite is a toxic intermediate product in the nitrogen cycle—produced when beneficial bacteria convert ammonia (from fish waste) into nitrite, which is then converted to less toxic nitrate. Even low nitrite levels (above 0.5 ppm) are toxic to fish, causing brown blood disease and stress. During new tank cycling, nitrite levels spike before beneficial bacteria populations establish. In drinking water, the EPA maximum contaminant level is 1 mg/L. The HI707's low range (0-0.35 mg/L) is perfectly suited for detecting dangerous nitrite levels in aquariums and ensuring safe drinking water. How to Use:

Fill cuvette with 10 mL water sample to line

Add HI707 reagent packet and mix thoroughly

Wait for color development (20 seconds)

Insert cuvette into HI707 Checker HC

Press button to read nitrite concentration in mg/L

Reagent Availability:Replacement reagents available separately as HI707-25 (25 tests) and HI707-100 (100 tests). Each reagent packet is pre-measured for consistent, accurate results.Maintenance & Care:Clean cuvettes with distilled water after each use. Store in protective case when not in use. Replace battery when low battery indicator appears. Use CAL Check feature periodically to verify meter performance. Keep reagents stored in a cool, dry place.Note: Reagents sold separately after initial supply is used. For best results, use fresh reagents and follow all testing procedures carefully. Regular CAL Check validation recommended for quality assurance.
