It also explores the relationship between IIT, the neighborhood it inhabits and the architectural reaction of Mies and Koolhaas to Bronzeville. The political, economic, cultural, and institutional circumstances that each architect encountered during their tenures at IIT form the context for the examination of the work of Mies and Koolhaas.
